Unmonitored Devices in NCM

The Unmonitored Devices tab in NCM lists all the devices discovered by the On-Premise Poller that are added as network monitors but have not yet been added to Network Configuration Manager (NCM). This view helps you identify devices and bring them under NCM for configuration backups, compliance, and automation.

Viewing Unmonitored Devices

To access the page:

  1. Navigate to Network > NCM > Unmonitored Devices.
  2. View the following columns displayed on the Unmonitored Devices page:
    • Display Name: The name assigned to the device in Site24x7's network monitoring
    • IP Address: The device’s IP address
    • Host Name: The DNS hostname or system name of the device
    • Category: The device category, such as Routers, Switches, or Firewalls

Adding devices to NCM

You can add devices to NCM using one of the following methods:

  1. Add devices individually
Click the plus icon  next to a device to add it directly as an NCM monitor.
  2. Add devices in bulk
    1. Select multiple devices using the check boxes, then click the Add to NCM button.
    2. When you click Add to NCM, the Device List page opens, where you can:
      • Filter or search for devices by their name, IP, category, or vendor.
      • Select or deselect devices before adding them to NCM.
    3. After you select the devices, a new NCM Discovery Profile will be created with a default name that is editable.
Provide the following details to complete the setup:
      • Discovery Name: Enter a name to identify the Discovery Profile.
      • Selected Device(s): Review the list of devices chosen for NCM monitoring.
      • Auto Discovery: Enable this to discover and add devices for monitoring automatically.
      • Enable NetFlow: Turn on traffic flow analysis to monitor bandwidth usage and application traffic.
      • NCM Check Frequency: Choose how often Site24x7 should make configuration backups.
      • Credentials: Assign the appropriate credentials for each protocol (e.g., SNMP, SSH, and Telnet).
      • Filters: Define rules for devices or interfaces to be included in or excluded from discovery.
      • Advanced Settings: Configure thresholds, assign tags, select user alert groups, and do even more.
    4. Once all the fields are configured, select one of the following options:
      • Save: Save the profile without starting discovery immediately.
      • Save and Start Discovery: Save the profile and run the discovery process right away.
      • Save and Schedule: Save the profile and schedule the discovery process to run at a later time.
